Frequently Asked Questions

What does a social media manager/strategist actually do?

This is not the ‘self checkout’ line. Hiring a social media manager is like having a tour guide walk alongside you as you explore a place of interest. We offer 3 plans to support you on your social media journey. These plans include a range of services, including content creation, content scheduling, stories, platform growth & engagement, email marketing, and more! Monthly strategy meetings (either online or in person) are our one-on-one opportunity to brainstorm, prioritize, collect any digital assets your business may have, update seasonal imagery and speaking points, clarify content plans, and answer questions. Based on monthly objectives, our team sources content, sets up the posting schedule, adds tags, emojis, and hashtags, and ensures accurate and optimal sizing and layout for each platform. And if something comes up? No problem, we know plans change and we are flexible! We help you chart your course so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride!

Is it really that important for my business to have a presence on social media?

It’s more important than you might think! Social media has largely replaced phone books and traditional forms of advertising (such as newspaper or television ads). Word-of-mouth looks different than it used to, with many people turning to the internet to do research or seek recommendations. Without a social media presence, that link is broken. Looking up your business on social media is a fast, easy way for potential customers to get a feel for what you offer. If your business is both set up properly and active, your social media presence can also convert to sales!

How do I know what kind of social media services I might need?

We don’t expect you to know exactly what you need; that’s what we’re here to help with! We offer complimentary 30 minute discovery calls so we can get to know you a little, ask each other questions, and discuss your needs.

Will my online presence translate into increased sales?

Clients use social media to achieve different goals. For some, it’s brand recognition and awareness, and for others it’s keeping their audience updated about ever-changing details (e.g. restaurants post feature menus or retail stores post new items and specials). For many, however, the goal is to increase sales. We have seen great results for clients, but there are many factors that play into ‘sales success;’ it’s not as simple as creating a post that instantly converts into sales (if it was, you wouldn’t need us!) Defining and building your target audience, using images that grab their attention, speaking their language in a way that converts, nurturing your loyal customers, monitoring analytics, and tweaking as you see success are all necessary. Planning ahead and being consistent are also key. Depending on the cost and complexity of your offering, transitioning leads into customers can be a long distance road trip; building trust and getting to know one another along the way is part of the journey. We’re in it for the long haul — are you?

Can you help me define my brand?

Branding is really important because it serves as the ‘engine’ of your online presence. If your business doesn't already have a logo, we definitely recommend having one developed; a logo helps people recognize you in the digital landscape. A brand guide including fonts and colours is also a huge asset. Our expertise in helping you enhance and grow your brand, so the better ‘the (brand) guide,’ the easier it is to grow your online look, feel, tone, and reach. If necessary, we can definitely recommend some professionals to help you get started. Or, if you’re not in a position to hire a professional yet, we can give you some DIY tips during your Social Media Road Map strategy session.

What should I post?

If you were speaking to a friend about your business or sharing something about your day with someone you know, what would you say? Many business owners find it easier to talk about their business than post about it, and we leverage that! We connect with you and convert our conversations with you into content. We like to say we go “from conversations to captions.” If you’d like our free Content Planning Guide, as well as regular content ideas and tips, sign up for The Compass, our monthly email guide to social media trends, tips and how-tos!

What social media channels do you help with?

Our team specializes in Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, but we know that social media planning is not a one-way trip with a single destination. We know the importance of building an effective online presence, so we incorporate strategies to align all digital mediums. This includes your website, Google, email marketing platforms, and other channels. We also help develop a blueprint to maximize retargeting and automation.

What social media platforms should I be on?

Great question! We review any existing social media platforms you’ve already got accounts on, review your business goals & target audience, and suggest the platforms that are best aligned to your goals from there. Then we help you map out the best way to maximize your ‘social itinerary.’
